  1. Hey,

Can someone explain how I should use this:

    http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=665

Should I put the DVD on something/in something before spraying?

Also, how far away should I spray, how fast, how many strokes etc :/

    Advice would be great thanks!

    Have a read of this - https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1058252&highlight=ghiant#1058252

As for how much you should use, it's trial and error. I've had some discs that looked very nice but others looked like crap because I used too much spray.

Hmm interesting topic, and just as I smudged my first label while handling it with semi-wet hands. Annoying.

Since I live in the US and don't have access to Ghiant, being in the art field, is this the same stuff as an Artist Spray Fixative? Seems like it'd be the same principle. I believe they also have them in different finishes.

  4. put it on paper, spray from a good distance and not much on it,

all the time of spraying KEEP YOUR HAND MOVING left-right outside the disc, don;t keep it in the same spot, and don;t apply to much spray on the disc.

GreyDeath, try the Krylon spray, many people from this forum have used it with great results.

  6. Thanks for the replies.

Is there any shops in the UK anyone knows of that has the ghiant fixatives?

Do I spray the disc once? or should I give it a second/third coating etc?

Also, should I spray the disc, (left right, right left) or spray in a circular motion till I get to the inner hub?

I've never seen Ghiant sprays in any high street shops, I always ordered from SVP. As for spraying, I used one coat and used a circular motion.

All I can say is that I can't wait for Taiyo Yuden's WaterShield DVD-R disks

  9. I want to know how they're going to work - if they're waterproof, what makes the ink stick to the disc ? How does the disc protect the ink once it's ON the disc ? If they come with a self adhesive label there will be public outcry !

Back to the spray, if you go in a circular motion I would say you would have irregular densities of the spray due to overlap. I always go from left to right making 3 or 4 passes per disc starting and finishing way outside the disc so as not to get splashes from the spray head. I use one of those clip on trigger guns too, which makes handling easier and stops the stuff getting on your fingers.

One complete pass is usually enough, but a second (especially with the gloss spray) makes a very solid layer, just don't go nuts because I've seen two players that don't clamp onto the disc properly if you've oversprayed near the hub (they "slip" making nasty thudding noises before ejecting the disc).

    HTH.
