My pc is very sluggish now... Partly due to installing to many junk and registry is totally clog. I used to use Go Back in Win98 where I can go back and get rid of the junk. I would like to reformat my hard disk and take a snap shot of the system setup and archive it so that restore my PC to this stage whenever I need to. I can alway re-install my application.

    Thanks.

If it is a "Snap Shot" program you are looking for...I have always used ConfigSafe by CPR Suite.
I also like Registry Mechanic to keep my registry clean.

    Just a suggestion.....

I use Restore It, similar to Go Back but not as intrusive. I got the version I'm running off of ebay a couple of years back for around $20. Restore It makes daily restore points. Also, it lets you define a restore point, which is a good thing to do before installing any new application.

Also, for making periodic images check out Norton Ghost.

I have Norton Ghost as well.
I try ConfigSafe first....I can go back to a period on time when the computer wasn't mucking up and yet keep all of my software that I added in the meantime.
It is supposed to be non-destructive and that is true....for the most part.

    Hi Folks,
    Thanks for all the suggestions.
Will give Norton Ghost a shot. I have a copy Norton Ghost come bundle with mobo. Is it an annual subscription software like all those NAV software ?

    Ghost doesn't expire...Norton AV does.

ConfigSafe can also restore from a floppy provided your HD isn't completely wiped.

Thanks. Does Ghost remove newer files uptil my backup date ? E.g. if Ghost took a snap shot yesterday and I install some s/w today. I do a restore. Will it get rid of all the s/w I install today ? Including virus !

Ghost backs up the entire HD to another HD or to a shitload of CDR's or DVDR's...depending on the amount of data on your HD.
Whatever was on your HD when you did a backup....that is what is on the backup.
I run Norton Ghost every month or so.....but I do "snapshots" with ConfigSafe before every major new program install.

If your computer is just running like crap....defrag your HD....clean out your registry....run Spybot and Ad Aware, etc etc etc.

    Don't forget CCleaner....IE...CRAP CLEANER....GREAT tool and free.
Clear out your PREFETCH folder too.
