    My monitor "Randomly" switches off as if i pressed the standby button but immediately comes back on. this is totally random and is very annoying. i do not believe this to be a hardware problem but I haven't ruled that out yet. has anyone got a similar problem or know of someone who has and how they resolved this if at all. thanks in advance.

    Not to scare you but this is indicative of hardware failure that generally results in fire if left ignored. Have you changed video cards recently?

    i've seen this at times before when the monitor is going out. sometimes the monitor is overheating due to aforementioned hardware failure. This should be a suitable replacement.
