I have been ripping from dvd w/mtr
then converting to dv w/mpeg streamclip
    then editing in final cut
    then exporting to quicktime
    importing qiucktime into dvdsp
    and re encoding
    and burning to disc.
Am I doing it the best way?
And what can I do to retain highest quality?

    Thanks.

    yeesh.

    My Workflows:
    No EDITs:

Rip with MTR as title set.
    Demux VOB using ffmpegx.
    Take M2V/audio into DVDSP,author, burn.

    Minor Edits:

    Rip with MTR as titleset
Demux with ffmpegx to m2v/whatever audio
    Import in DVDSP
use Chapter Markers to hide the minor stuff
(I do this for commercials, removal of minor stop starts from tv recordings)
    author burn

    Medium Edits:
Rip with MTR as Title Set
    Open VOB in Mpegstreamclip
    edit in MpegStreamclip
export as m2v and audio flavor of choice
    import into DVDSP, burn.

    Major Reconstructive Surgery:
    Rip with MTR
follow the steps you are doing.

I want to be able to do major edits, which is why I want to use final cut. I already know the simpler method.

When you "export to QuickTime" after editing in Final Cut, just be sure that exported file is a reference movie, and not self contained. That'll shave a little time right there.
