  1. I am using a program called VHSToDVD to transfer a lot of my old videos to dvd. but after I have converted movie from mpeg to dvd vobs it plays like frame by frame not right slow I mean, but its a bit hard to describe but people move in so many frames a sec its not right slow but, not as a normal movie. bit like slow motion. if say I was doing any other thing on pc whilst I was copying from VHS to pc would this have done that. as I am sure I wasnt. I cannot remember if movies played ok before conversion which I used convertxtodvd or maybe there is a better program to convert.

Isolate the links in the chain until you find the culprit.

Here's some random questions I have. I've answered as many as I can myself but need some help filling in the blanks

What software are you using to get the VHS file onto the computer with ?
    VHSToDVD

What hardware are you using to get the VHS file onto the computer with ?

What format is it capturing to on the computer ?
    MPEG

Does it play back smoothly ?

Any indication of dropped frames ?

What software are you using to convert to DVD ?
    ConvertXToDVD

Does it play back smoothly ?
    NO

Are you testing playback on a PC, or on a DVD-Player ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

    First thing

Disable any running task that dose not need to be running in the background ... ctrl + alt + dell ... only once ... twice reboot's pc .

Knowing what to disable is for most a trial and error ... just dont kill off "system" listed item's .

    Thing's to kill off :

    Quicktime
    Itune's
Epson , hp ... ect ... printer , camera app's ... if device is not connected ... they shouldn't be running until needed .
    Incd
    Norton's av ... get avg ... it's less of a resource hog ... there's a free version available .
If you see "wowexe" or something similar ... it's called by old scanner , printer program's ... kill it right off .
    Msn messenger
    Yahoo messenger
Outlook express , if it's running
    Any listed spam tool's

    Could be other's .

    Kill off "screen saver"
    Kill off "power management"

    Scandisk hd
    Defrag hd

    Scan pc for virus's
Scan pc for crapware using ad-aware se ... quarantine anything it list's .

Do not use computer when capturing ... set and let it do the job .

    -------------

    Now try again .

According to you pc spec's ... you should not have any problem's ...
If killing of non-essential running task's dont make an improvement ... then there is another problem

  4. ok jimmalenko I will try this but I have a feeling it maybe to do with me doing other things on pc whilst using VHSToDVD program. or maybe using convertxtodvd which i dont think so. I use a scart lead plugged in back of video, which has 2 leads from that audio, and video the video 1 go into my tv card video port, and audio into my sound card. but i have beed told you can buy a special lead from video player to pc usb port and in between is a box which do it all check this web page
