Hi guys, I wasn't sure where to put this question. I just want to do a simple thing: burn some DivX files to a CD-R disc for storage. I have done this easily in the past.

The problem I am having is when I click to "make Data disc" Nero seems to want me to burn the data to a DVD disc. It is giving me the 4.37GB file size instead of the usual 700mb so when I add my files and try to burn to CD-R it won't accept the disc.

Does anyone know where the setting is to change this. I can't find it.

  2. Start Nero Burning ROM, from the New Compilation Wizard change the type to CD, then select CD-ROM (ISO).

Or, after Nero Burning ROM has started, select File -> Compilation Properties and change to CD, CD-ROM (ISO).

Thanks Jagabo. When I go to do the second method, compilation properties is there, but not available to click on. I suppose I would need to have a project there open or something. I found a long winded way to do it. I go to Burning Rom everytime I open Nero, then go to Nero Express after selecting CD ISO.

Trouble with the above is that it is not a permanent setting. I have to adjust it every time I open Nero.

Anyhow, it still worked so thanks for the tip.

  4. If you don't have a project open in Nero Burning ROM, use File -> New. That will bring up the wizard.

If Nero Burning ROM always starts without the wizard, you can use File -> Preferences -> General -> Start With New Compilation to enable the wizard at every startup.

Feel lucky. A customer I had the other day found out that some of the stripped down NEROs don't even come with the full Burning ROM.

That'd be true. Those OEM versions (like the one I got with my AOpen DVD burner) don't come with the full version. However, Express works well enough with the same functions, albeit less tweaking possible.

But basically make sure in the "burner drive" make sure you pick CD, not DVD or Image. Then Create Data CD.
