I always burn at 4x or 8x. If I burn at 16x I don't get any errors but some of my dvd players would skip while playing.

alas, my burner is old and will only do 4X

I've always burned at 4x because, for a long time, I've used 4x Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs exclusively. My burner is capable of 16x, though.
