My DVD Recorder-VCR combo is a Panasonic DMR-ES40V.
Every now and then when I turn on the DVD Recorder combo and I try to record onto DVD, I am given a message that this DVD is full. But the thing is, I didn't record enough to fill it up. So I have to finalize it and put a new DVD in. In one case I only recorded one 28-minute title in SP speed when it said that it was full.
Is there any way to fix this? Will taking my DVDs out when I'm not recording them reduce the chances? I'm using TDK DVR-R 8X DVDs, and most of my recordings are in SP. I haven't downloaded any software updates for the recorder.

I would check with Panasonic about any possible issues with the recorder. It may be a known issue.
