    Hi ,

First i would like to say that i visite this site quite a lot for help and i always seems to find a solution for my problem , thx for that. From all the files i got i've never actually had big problems in working with it , thanks to this site .

Now recently i got an mp4(h264 with aac) with the following specs :

    Track # 1 Info - TrackID 1 - TimeScale 24000 - Duration 01:29:49.952
Media Info: Language "Undetermined" - Type "soun" - Sub Type "mp4a" - 126327 samples
    MPEG-4 Config: Audio Stream - ObjectTypeIndication 0x67
    MPEG-2 Audio AAC LC - 2 Channel(s) - SampleRate 24000
    Self-synchronized

    Track # 2 Info - TrackID 2 - TimeScale 2997 - Duration 01:29:50.390
Media Info: Language "Undetermined" - Type "vide" - Sub Type "avc1" - 161550 samples
    MPEG-4 Config: Visual Stream - ObjectTypeIndication 0x21
    AVC/H264 Video - Visual Size 576 x 384 - Profile High @ Level 5.1
    Synchronized on stream 1

I would like to cut and join the mp4-file.I know you can do that with Yamb. But it's very difficult to split because you can't do it visual.I want to be able to mix the split pieces in time.So it would take a really long time to get it right. And tmpgenc express always crashes if i want to plit something (an error accured during a transmission with the vfapi frame server).

So i thought if i can't split and join it visual i convert it too something usefull like mpg (mpg 2).
Especially when you can use a nice tool like mpg videowizard (so easy for splitting and joining in one single step).

The program that Baldrick has been praising (in most mp4 related topics) is super. So i tried that one. With a little succes i would say , the file that came out was not as good (quality) as is was hoping.I just tested around with the settings but the quality didn't seem to improve.
    My "best" settings :

Any help in converting mp4-files to mpg with super would be appreciated.
Or maybe another program.I tried winavi as well but it crashes. The important thing for me is the size.I managed to get an mpg with the size twice as big as the original. Is that normal if you convert from mp4 to mpg ? Anyone has experience in this matter ?

  2. 768 kbps is way to low for MPEG2. You'll need 5 to 10 times that.

I've already tried with higher bitrates , about 1000 kbps and that didn't seem to give a difference in (a better) video quality that's why i didn't get any higher then that. But now you say i need 5 times or even more ...ok , if that will give a quality that is as close as the input i will give it a shot.I'm a little afraid what the size will be though ...let's see.

  4. File size = bitrate * running time.

So 5 to 10 times more bitrate will give a 5 to 10 times bigger file.
