I've been sent a file ending in .iso which apparently contains a few .avi files plus some other stuff totalling about 2GB. As far as I know, an .iso is similar to a .dmg but how do I convert/unpack it? I'm running the latest version of OS X but is there any free/shareware to do this or is it really a Windows format? I thought .iso was a universal standard.
Any help for this newbie much appreciated!

Nah, it's not limited to being a Windows format only. It's one of the standard formats of disc images.

I believe you should be able to mount it using Disk Utility, as if it were a physical CD/DVD, and be able to access the files that way. (Or using Toast, if you have it.)

Another nice app for burning ISO (and many other formats) is Burnz which may be found here: http://thinkertons.com/burnz_features.htm

Try ToastMount too - if you get a 'no mountable file system' error the download was probably corrupted.

Thank you all for the info. I'm trying Disk Unility first but have downloaded Burnz just in case!
