  1. I have a desktop standalone DVD player which support Divx playback. I have some clips in Divx format. How could i put (authoring) them on a DVD without converting Divx to mpeg2 so that i could play it on my player on TV? What software is required? I don't think Nero will do the job for it always transcoding mpeg4 to mpeg2 and authoring the dvd.

    Please help, thank you!!

You cannot author them without converting them. You can use Nero to create a data DVD with these file on it, and they should play (assuming they are suitable for your player). If you have one of the (still rare) Divx Ultra Certified players then you can look at DivxMediaBuilder to add menus etc. Otherwise, you will have to use the menu your player provides.

Create a data disc, not a DVD-Video disc. Nero can do that (and as a data disc, Nero won't re-encode the video).
