  1. I merged two dvds with DvdRemake and and want to replace the default menu. I used this guide http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_customize_menu_full.php and can't get it to work correctly. Both buttons play the 2nd dvd. Anyone know how to get the menu to play the first dvd? The default menu works correctly.

Both buttons must have the same jump or link command to be playing the same clip. Since the original buttons are set to LinkTailPGC by default, you then need to view the post commands to find out which VTS and PGC the buttons are jumping to, and then you need to configure the new menu buttons the same, and make sure that the post commands are the same also.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm on my laptop at the moment so I can't try it right now. The funny part is it only does this when I replace the block. When I replace with a still I can get it to work. I'm replacing the block so I can keep the button highlights. When I replace with a still I loose the highlights. I even tried copying the button command from the original DvdRemake menu and pasting it into my menu with no luck.

Aha .... that may be your problem then, since the menu sets register 0 to the highlighted_button value in the post commands.

Here is the standard menu after a merge:

Both buttons use LinkTailPGC which means go to the post commands.

You can see that in the post commands, line 1 sets register 0 to highlighted_button. Line 2 checks the value to determine if button 1 or button 2 was pressed, and if the register value is equal to 1024 then it jumps to VMG PGC 2, otherwise it skips to line 5, which jumps to VMG PGC 4.

Now if we look at each of those, we have:

VMG PGC 2 jumps to the root menu of VTS 1 (aka Disc 1's Main Menu).

VMG PGC 4 jumps to the root menu of VTS 2 (aka Disc 2's Main Menu).

It may even be worth using the debug mode to step through the command execution, so you can see the values of registers and which commands are being executed in which order.
    If in doubt, Google it.

This recent thread of mine might help too - if jimmalenko hasn't already sorted it for you.

There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

  6. I tried the suggestion you gave me jimmalenko with no luck. I can't find the difference between the original DvdRemake menu and my menu. All the post commands and pre commands are the same. I'm going to try the link daamon gave me to see if I can get this working. if This doesn't work I'll up and burn them to separate single layer Dvds.

I think it's something to do with you trying to keep the highlights that is causing the problem. It just isn't passing the correct highlighted_button value to the register
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. did you try this? I ran into your issue once before, so do the following

look in the post commands of the menu, now you will see 2 entries (such as the one pictured in an above post) that point to 2 different pgc titles (ex jump vmg pgc 4) those two entries are your titles. So what I have done is highlight one of those pgc commands (first pgc is your first disc, second one listed is disc 2) then copy/paste that command over the actual button on the menu. This should now properly link it to where it has to go

in fact older versions of remakepro used to work this way before it was changed to the linktailpgc command

Thank you! Your suggestion worked perfectly. I wasted a DL DVD before I knew my menu didn't work. From now on I'm exporting a test DVD to test in PowerDVD first.

Personally i'm satisfied with the default disc-merge menu. Its simple, to the point, and does its job allowing you to switch between the two.

Though i can understand why others would want to change it, as its very plain/basic.
