  1. Just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to create a menu that enables selection of various chapters within a single movie file on a VCD? It seems to me that VideoPack menus can only select separate movie files. Am I overlooking something?

    Thanks,
    Chris

No Vid pack 4 and 5 will both let you create a menu that allows you to skip to to chapters from within a single mpg track. I have described the method a number of times on this forum but unfortunately the search function is disabled. Bear with me, I havent used this program in a long time...

Basically create a separate node for each chapter you want. Go to the options for each node. There should be a place for entry points. Put in the chapter points you want. To set the time for that node simply highlight it then close it. Set all your chapter points and link them together, 1 linked to 2, 2 linked to 3 etc. Then have your chapter selection menu linked to the corresponding chapters. Use the documentation that comes with Vid pack. Despite what many people think everything you need to know to use entrypoints is all described there.

  3. Hi Adam,

Thanks for helping out. I'll have to recheck the documentation. But just to make sure I understand you, when you mention node, do you mean elements? Like the things that you add to the Navigation window on the left? If so, then I don't see how to do this without having multiple instances of my original video file. Hopefully the search function will be back up and I can check out your original posts.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Adam is refering to VP4.
    VP5 is a bit different.

I think I've answered this question earlier today in another post.

  5. drag the movie once to the left navigation window.
then generate an empty element for each chapter on the same hierarchy level. select the movie icon and copy the content to each empty element (right-click on empty icon, select copy...). The CD image size stays the same. Now you can set and select entrypoints on each element.

You have to tweak around a bit with the routing, so your VCD doesn't do strange things.... Make sure you test your creation extensively with the emulator before burning!

  7. natcom,

You need to get a patch file called the XP migration Wizard.

Go to the German Roxio web support site, pick language, then look for VP-5 XP Update:

    http://www.roxio.de/index.php3

That will fix some problems but not all of them.
