    Please help this novice!

    Bought this DVD player/recorder LG RC6821W a year ago. Did the region free as advice posted by JD on March 27 2005.

    It work for months.

    Two weeks ago a baby sitter brought a cd over and since then problems. "UNKNOWN DISC PLEASE, CHECK DISC AGAIN". I tried your old advice again but I need to first go into the country code, enter password then return do the 7 zeroes, get message "CONGRATULATIONS - PLAYER REGION FREE" but still "UNKNOWN DISC..."

    Try using one of the CD/DVD laser cleaners on it. Could just be a dirty laser. Or the player might just be going bad. Good Luck

    If it was a region issue, you would be getting a "wrong region" error or something similar.

    Sounds like a bad disc or the player has died.
