I've been using quicktime to save some streaming audio files (mp3) off the net; just do a right-click on the downloaded file and the "save" option is there. But I have a dialup connection, and I'm growing old waiting for all the files to download so I can save them. My mother-in-law just got her new high-speed internet hooked up, so I was anticipating being able to save these files much quicker! But when I downloaded the first file and right-clicked it, the "save" option was greyed out! I haven't had a chance to do a lot of exploring on her computer, so I don't know her version number of quicktime. (She is using WinXP.) Is there some well-known-to-everybody-but-me reason when quicktime doesn't want to save downloaded mp3s?
    Thanks.

Save As is, I believe, a function of having Quicktime Pro. You have to pay for this, so perhaps she doesn't have the pro version ?

Hmmm... Now that you mention that, I'm using quicktime alternative, not quicktime. Seems to me that "alternative" has some other features (codecs, maybe?) that you have to pay for in quicktime. Thanks for the reminder.
