  1. Hi All

I recieved a DVD from a friend who converted a family Super 8 to a DVD. The DVD contains two folder VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS. The RM folder contains a dat, bup and ifo files and the TS folder contains the 5 VOB files plus a few others. From what I have read I was exspecting this to just play on a DVD player (the menu comes up if I play in WMP). But I have tried to play it in a standard DVD player and a DivX compatable player and both say NO DISC. Can anyone please point me in the right direction so that I can watch this.

    Thanks

That sounds like a strange combination of folders. You might want to look the the upper left for 'What is' DVD and see the DVD structure near the bottom of the page. If it doesn't follow that, it will likely not play on a settop player.

You mainly need the VIDEO_TS folder with the VOBs, IFOs, BUPs in it. The settop player will ignore most other folders or files.

The other possibility, if you really do have the proper structure, is that the DVD media is incompatible with your settop player. But even with that, it should play on the computer with a software player like PowerDVD or VLC as a DVD video.

You might have to reauthor it or burn it to different media.

VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS are what some DVD recorders generate.

The "no disc" error is usually because the player:
    - does not like either DVD-R or DVD+R, or both
    - does not like either PAL or NTSC

  4. Thanks to all I have just finished watching the DVD. All I did was to copy the folders onto a different DVD and it worked fine.

    Thanks again
