Downloaded some anime in mp4 format and want to extract it to avi so I can play it on a dvd player after encoding it but can figure out how to do it. Can anyone help?

No real need for a guide.
Load the mp4, tick extract avi, enter the track id for the video track and press extract. Not sure it works for AVC (video track avc1). Even if it did, there is no way that your DVD player would play it. So if the video track isn't mp4v, don't bother.
Thing is though, that will just give you an avi containing video, no audio. So you might be better off using something like mencoder or avidemux to remux the video and re-encode the audio in one go.
