  1. I bought Basic Instinct 2 and tried make a back up copy. I have ANydvd V 6.0.3.1.

When I put the dvd into the drive, a message appeard saying ANydvd could not defeat the protection. So I ejected the disc the closed it, white holding shift and control to prevent the dvd from auto running, it worked, AnyDVD came thru!

After the Sony rootkit fiasco I would advise everyone to first disable the autorun feature on their DVD drives.

Since version 1.4.4.0, RipIt4Me doesn't allow autorun.inf files to trigger if the disk is inserted after RipIt4Me is started.

So true. I disabled autorun a long time ago. Dont trust the music/movie studios anymore.

I'll second that. By default all drives should have the auto run feature disabled. You are just asking for trouble if you don't.

Unfortunately, many people have too much trouble trying to turn off autorun to complete the task, and the rest think their computer is broken if they put in an install disk, and nothing happens. The RipIt4Me technique of disabling autorun for the duration of the rip is probably the best solution for the majority of people.

  11. Google is your friend. That is how I found it. I believe you have to change a registry entry in Win2K. I did and it works fine.
