Ok so I have a couple of videos. One is basically half the size (dimensions) of the other. When I play it in to be double sized, it looks perfectly fine to me. Is there any way to change the resolution it plays at (by default) without re-encoding the entire video? I know that it's possible to use a tool to change the framerate, but is there one to tell it to display at a bigger size?

No, a different resolution requires new information to be created. BTW if you do scale it up it will look worse.

    That's just it though.

Video A, at 200%, is the same size and as good (and I do mean good) quality as Video B at 100%

Was hoping there was some way to trick it into thinking it was bigger than it really is, but oh well.

    Thanks.

There may be a solution like the one posted above where you are tricking the player into thinking the resolution is higher but if yuu truly change the resolution it requires that you reencode the video. Reencoding dereases the quality of video as does scaling it up.

  7. What kind of video do you have? If it's MPEG you can force a 4:3 display aspect ratio (aka picture aspect ratio) without reencoding. Divx AVI also supports display aspect ratios.
