    hd camcorders or hdv camcorders (for quality)

    well true hd camcorders can cost over a 100,000$ like the Sony HD F900 and are considered pretty good ....

    HDV is a lot cheaper and a LOT lower bit rate and really only 1440 res. with a lot cheaper lens, but it is still good for some applications .....

    Perhaps you could rephrase this question with some detail and context as to what you are comparing .. as it is a just a guess right now ..

    "HD" isn't a recording format specification unless you mean totally uncompressed to disk. Even then you have 720p, 1080i, 1080p with 8bit, 10bit or log14bit at various frame rates.

    Do you mean IMX-HD, DVCPro-HD, HDCAM, HDCAM-SR?
