I have a 46" Sony HDTV. It had a 4 year service plan but when I bought it the guy did not transfer the service from his name to mine and Best (worst) Buy will not honor it.

The picture is grainy now even with progressive DVD input. I suspect the projectors are dusty.

I purchased a video essensials dvd. I also found a site that is dedicated to opening the sony tv's and tunng them. I'm not confirtable doing this.

Does anyone know of any good companies or services that will do it for me at a resonable rate? Or can someone give me their guidence in doing it myself.

    LS

PS I've repaired older tube type tv's before but none of them had the self adjusting circuitry that can reset deverything you just tuned.,

They tried to talk me out of doing myself. he listed 8 things that you can mess up, but the group I found covers all of them anyway.

Plus he gave me a couple to look for just in case. I'll bight my nails and do it.

I found some Yahoo groups on the Sony version of my TV. Using the Hoem Video Essensials DVD and their guide I was able to take the TV apart, clean and adjust the CRT's and focus pots and etc.

I was able to align the convergence grid on all format, 480P, 1080, normal, wide and etc. I was even able to program the FLASH FOCUS memory so if someone pushes the auto adjust button it would keep everything I adjusted.

Holy crap the picture is 10 times better then before!!
