Does the DVD burner matter to the DVD formats?

I have several HDVD discs. I used the same DVDFab to rip. My laptop DVD RW drive pops up to insert the valid DVD but desktop DVD burner works well. Does the DVD burner have the DVD formats compatible problems? If so, what DVD burner is compatible with the most of the DVD formats?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Most current dvd burners will handle +/-R and +/-RW. All of the name brand units have similar specs, so the choice boils down to price.
