    Hi guys,

I recently bought a Panasonic DMR-ES35V, DVD-Video combo, but there is no time display on the unit. It will display the selected channel, counter and also the time left on the DVD and video. I thought all units would have a time display, but I rang Panasonic and they could not help me. Any information is appreciated.

  2. From the remote, hit "Functions", from the screen "Other Functions", from the screen "Setup", from the setup menu, "Setup", then choose "Clock Settings".

I tried following this path, but once I get to the 'Setup' menu, I do not have a 'clock settings' option. I have a 'clock' option, but that only allows me to alter the time and date. There is nothing about enabling the clock to display. Any other ideas.

  4. The time only appears on the front panel display when the unit is in standby otherwise the same display digits are used to show the current channel, input selected, etc. while the recorder is on.

I may sound stupid here, but when in 'standby' mode, there is NO display at all on the unit. When I turn it on, the display reads 'HELLO' and then a channel is displayed...but the time never comes up.

  6. Did you enter any time and date in the "clock" menu? If you did, then no display in standby is not normal. It should be showing the time. I would look at a display unit in a store. If your does not behave like that, then it may be defective. I do not recall what it displays if you have never entered a time and date however.

Thanks 'trhouse'. After speaking with Panasonic for the third time and then being 'asked' to drive 120km to the nearest Good Guys store to confirm the problem, I got a new recorder...THAT WORKS.

Once again, thanks for your patience.

    Tecno,
YES the display is meant to be on. The salesman at the local Good Guys told me that this is a common reason for returns. Good luck.
