I have a quick question but do not know too much about XP right now...I have a computer that has XP SP2 and want to do a complete system recovery on and the computer came with XP preinstalled. When I go to PC Tools and System Recovery, the system goes into recovery mode but does not bring up the blue screen which has the options of what recovery you want to do..Instead it goes into a DOS prompt screen...
I do not have any disks or CD that came with the computer...It is a HP Pavilion..
Need to know how to do a system recovery in which I want to clean out the hard drive and start all over again...
Again I am new to all this technical stuff so bear with me.
Thanks

Read this ... print it just incase
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=62776&docname=bph07145
If problem , install avgfree antivirus , and ad-aware se ... update both and perform full system scan's in both program's .
Goto Start , Run , type this
msconfig
Hit enter , goto startup tab and uncheck everything listed , hit apply , ok , yes to system restart .
This is because some program's are well known to cause problem's for the system .
Once system is up and running , try the recovery process again ... if this dosent help ... give me a pm .
