  1. When I create a DVD my videos come out with low resolution.

I'm using Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 and i've tried to use the option "Don't Transcode" and tryed different transcoding settings, but that didn't help at all. (by the way if you know what transcoding does please explain because it doesn't be what i think it should be).

So if you know how to keep the quality of the original videos please post.

    Thanks.

Transcoding means to convert your avi file to a dvd complient mpeg2 file or .vob. You need to set a bitrate suitable for your footage, 4000kbps CBR for example would usually give you a good video quality.

Setting a bitrate is easy with a bitrate calculator, you just need to know the duration of the footage and a magic number will be given to you for maximum quality @ minimum file size.

Something else to consider is that the origninal footage is in a dimention that suits 4:3 or 16:9. For example if your footage was 512x290 and you transcoded the file, you would most likely get jaggard edges. However if you crop it back to 512x288 it would suit perfectly. you can use aspect calculator to determine if the file has the correct dimentions.

    Hope this helps

You might need to be a bit more specific. What do you mean by "low resolution" ?

What is your source (GSpot and https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=271697 ) ?

What is Encore transcoding to (GSpot and above guide on output VOB ?

I think you're starting with a relatively poor source (in the overall scheme of things), and Encore is resizing up to full D1 (720 x 480 for NTSC or 720 x 576 for PAL).
    If in doubt, Google it.
