I am working on a video project using Video Studio 10 and I am have a problem getting my audio and video to properly align up.

    The project contains four clips.

    Clip 1 is 10 seconds of silence (it's a black lead-in)
Clip 2 is the motion picture studio logo with it's own sound tract about 13 seconds
Clip 3 is a short ducumentation which I made and it has it's own audio tract about 45 seconds
Clip 4 is the actual 2 hour movie.

The audio part of the original movie clip was full of hums and buzzes so I was able to extract the audio out and load it into an audio editing application where I was able to filter out the hums and buzzes leaving the pure audio and saved it as a .WAV file

I then deleted the old audio tract from the 4th clip and insert the new audio sound file.

However, I can't get the new audio to align up with the start of the 4th clip. It always inserts the audio at the beginning of the entire project and as a result it plays from the start of the project overlaying the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clips which needless to say is completely out of sync.

How do I insert the new audio file so that it aligns up with the start of the 4th clip and not at the beginning of the project?

Couldn't you simply reconstruct a new WAV file? Working with one, continuous stream must be easier than working with four chunks.

If so, any respectable audio editor can be used to merge audio files. Hence, my suggestion is that you solve the audio problem yourself, and then let your video application do whatever it does best.

That's not the issue. Yes, I could do that but my problem is using Video Studio. I have other projects and your answer would not be appropiate for each and every project. My question is basically how to align audio files with the start of a video clip using Video Studio. There would be times that I may need to insert other audio files that were already made into already made video clips. The example I gave was just so people would know what I am trying to do and has nothing to do with what the next project might need. I can't always just make one continuos stream because there wouls be too many other factors involved.

Sounds like your audio and video tracks are locked and your audio is starting at the beginning of your intro clip. Is that correct? If so, you just need to unlock the audio from the video track.

OK, how do I unlock the audio from the video track?

    Code:
    This is what I get:

       Clip 1 Clip 2 Clip 3 Clip 4
    +---------+------------+--------------+--------------------
    | | | |
    +---------+------------+--------------+-------------------
    |<--------- New Audio Stream for Clip 4-------->
    +----------------------------------------------------------

    This is what I want:

      Clip 1 Clip 2 Clip 3 Clip 4
    +---------+------------+--------------+-------------------
    | | | |
    +---------+------------+--------------+----------------
    |                                     |<--Audio for Clip 4 -->
    +-------------------------------------+------------

I don't use that product, so I can't tell you. It should be in the HELP section of your software. When you start up Studio, just click help, and search for locking or unlocking.

Place first clip on timeline ... then make sure your seeing timeline , not thumbnail's .
On the left in option's is "split audio" ... once done ... you can realign your audio .
Place next clip on timeline and repeat ...

    It work's with multiple clip's easily .

Just ran a test on four clip's , first 3 had audio removed , 4th kept ... no problem

    And now : https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=306715

Yes, that seems to be the only way I have been able to do it.

It appears that VS will always insert the new audio at the end of the last audio-split segment. So, like you say, I have to place clips 1, 2, and 3 onto the timeline then split the audios so that the audio for each clip is below the video clips then I place clip 4 on the timeline and split it's audio. I then delete the audio from the 4th clip and insert the new audio. This works fine.
