Just a quick question to seee if anyone can answer it for me.
I have tried now three times to convert the Lord of the rings AVI to an MPEG, using the standard VCD settings, not the loaded template. The only settings I have changed slightly are I was using the Automatic VBR and set the min and max bitrates to 1500 and left the max at 3000 as it comes that way already set and used the enable padding feature, and was using the noise reduction filter only at a setting of 2 on the scale. Everything else was set to a standard VCD settings, I have encoded many moveis so I know what the setting should be as per the TMPGEnc Explained file found here.
Well it decoded ok, took about 5 hours which is normal for my processer, PIII 550 with 200 megs of ram. It gave me all three times an outputed MPEG file of around 950megs big, which I know in the help file with TMPEG that u can find on this web site it says that using the enable padding feature and adjust the quality highter on the scale it will give you a bigger file.
Well when I went to play them in Windows media player which by the way is the latest one, it would try to start the mpeg file then just quit. Yet I have already converted this file to an mpeg without using any of the special features and it plays just fine. Thought I would try and use some filters etc to help clean up the movie, but everytime I encode it with any of this features on it windows media player wont play it??

This is normal size based on your TMPGENC setting.
What do you really expect it to be ? Less than 800MB ?

To Ktnwin:
I am not concerned about the size of the mpeg file, what my problem is, is when the ecoding is done and I have the 900+ megs mpeg file, when I try to play it on my windows media player, it just starts then quits, it wont play at all, I just did a small encode of the same file last nite with little filters on and the file was about 586 megs big, it plays no problem??
Why is it then that the bigger file wont play?? It sure confuses me on this one?? I have encoded many files and they all work, I did one of training day the full movie, and it was almost 1 gig big by the time it was done, it would play no problems??
Thanks for any replys on this one!!
