I was feeling stupid and felt that cleaning out my un-used codecs would be a good idea. I opened my regedit and found the hklm/software/microsoft/windowsnt/currentversion/drivers32 folder and deleted all entries, effectively breaking the link for my pc to find these codecs.
I loaded back up just what i wanted and thought that it was all good. I record dvb with a leadtek capture card and usually open the recorded mpg file in vdubmod. HERE IS WHERE MY PROBLEM IS
vdm will open the file however there is no audio now? I have installed nearly everything i can find including the capture software again
if I recode the file it does have audio but i cannot hear it within vdubmod...
Gspot suggests audio mpeg 1 layer II codec installed?
Any ideas please

This is devistating! It looks as though I'm going to have to reload my pc just so that vdubMod will preview audio?
What I have done so far.
(after deleting all the reg keys for codecs)
I reinstalled all the codecs I had before. ac3acm, lame acm, ffdshow, divx, xvid, huffy, stinky mpeg2 and elecard mpeg2 along with aud-x
Also re-installed windvt (dvb capture software) and upgraded soundcard drivers and software.
windvt captures mpg and g-spot identifies the audio as mpeg1 layer2.
Still when i open this mpg (or any video file) with vdubmod (or any vdub) there is no audio in the play preview. -
No that would be inteligent jagabo and i was feeling stupid so i didn't do a backup of the registry before deleting the keys.
If people could post a screen shot of their registry entries at
HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT.WINDOWSNT/CURRENTVERSION/DRIVERS32/
There might be something fundamentle that i have deleted and have not replaced..
My other programes are not effected and I have lost the ability to have the sound icon in taskbar.
I'm sure that it has to do with the soundcard software and will reload in a few days if i cannot get it running properly as i use vdub alot! -
No, I mean Windows' System Restore utility. Windows XP backs up the registry just about every time you boot the computer and every time you install software. It keeps many backups around.Originally Posted by drewzor

Choose to restore to an earlier date, then it will show you a calendar with many restoration points.
