I am having some probs. We have some AVI files which I'd like to transfer onto a DVD so they can be played on the dvd player and watched on TV. Our burner came with Nero but when I select the AVI file it says "no compatible file found". So then I tried WinAVI but the output files produced VOB files, IFO and BUP files (and windows wont open them) in a folder Video_TS. Another folder is there called Audio_TS and it appears to be empty! Is this right? I have 2 AVI files of 649 mb and 499 mb and would like it if they were on a single DVD. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

burn the video_Ts folder with nero, see https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=441&howtoselect=3;25#441

    the audio_ts should be empty.

Ok thanks for the tip! We were given WinAVI but all this is comletely new to me! Incidentally, when you want to burn a few avi files which have been successfully converted, will they play successfully one following on from each other, ie one movie clip after another?

Depends on how they are authored. Oneclickwonder type apps seems to make them play one after another, I've read.

Convertxtodvd is something you may want to have a look at

It will let you add virtually any video format, so if you have a few short AVI clips, you can add them to convertxtodvd, it will create a DVD menu after conversion and burn it to DVD or create the DVD files so you can burn the DVD using your own software

I use it to convert HDTV to DVD which its very good at, does it in one piece of software and will accept HDTV source in multiple files without having to selec each file by hand for conversion as it knows its all the same movie

Also it appears to be one of the few pieces of software that manages to be better at keeping audio in sync when converting divx/xvid to DVD, or explains very easily how to correct this if it does go out of sync

Ok thanks steptoe, I will give that a go. It certainly looks more user friendly than WinAVI for a newbie like me!

Not to mention the fact that it actually works (as far as oneclickwonders go)!

I tried it out and liked it! Very easy to use except the dvd autoplayed and I wanted it to start with a menu. It must have been a box I had checked without realising it. Now I'm about the purchase the licence for it.
