I'd have to say that flac is pretty common, possibly the most common lossless format.

Never heard of. What's wrong with FLAC (the encoder/decoder, not the format)?

  6. Try DBPowerAmp, or my favorite Trader's Little Helper to decode your FLAC files. Or you can just play them using Foobar 2000 and other players.

There is a Nero plugin to use FLAC files when creating audio CDs. Just google for it and you will find it. Don't need to convert it.

  8. Oh yeah, I just remembered. If you make a cuesheet, you can burn FLAC files directly using Burrrn (free).

You do not *have* to use a cue sheet. Unless you are super picky, the only reason to use a cue sheet would be if you have a single large .flac file (image) of all the tracks from the cd. Then a cue would be necessary to point where each track begins/ends. Burrrn is a great choice. www.burrrn.net

Foobar2000 is also an excellent choice for converting (although it is more of an advanced program due to some of the setup required). www.foobar2000.org

Burrrn is the easiest route. If you want help setting up foobar (which is also an excellent player), I can provide some help. For the more advanced features, try www.hydrogenaudio.org

Foobar2000 you can just select the files, right click-->convert-->write audio CD. Needs the CD burning plugin plus Nero installed though.
