    hello,

I wonder if someone can help me with problem. my computer suddenly don't want to play files encoded with Xvid and mp3. When I try to play the file, no matter the player, it stuck with a black screen.
I tried to install again Xvid codec, mp3 codec and even codec pack All in 1, but no good.
The funny thing is that in gspot the video is playing fine and so is the audio, but it won't play them together.
Files encoded in ac3 works fine.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks.

  2. Chech your graphics card's overlay settings.

Any idea how to do that ?
    I have Radeon9200. What is "graphics card's overlay" ?
By the way, in VLC player all the files play good - I know it use it's own codecs.

    Thank you.

  4. Start -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced. From there it varies depending on what graphics card you have and what drivers are installed. Look through the tabs for settings involving overlay. Optimally, you want it enabled, but try swapping the setting to see if you can get a picture. You may have to reboot for the new setting to take hold.

The fact that VLC can displaly the files might indicate the problem isn't overlay though.

You could try reregistering the Quartz.dll, sometimes that will fix Directshow problems.

    Start>Run>regsvr32 quartz.dll

You might also try a program called Filmerit for fixing Directshow errors.

OK, found the problem. It was a "Moonlight" codec that did all the problem. After uninstalling it and installing "Elcard" codec, all came to normal. I was able to find the problem thanks to Gspot, that didn't play the audio with this codec.
    Thanks for the help guys.
