I ran multiple avi files in batch format in TMPGenc 2.02 to encode in MPEG2 at 8000 kbit/s CBR. However, I got spikes in bitrate over the 8000 limit as measured with bitrate viewer after I got an error in compliling my DVD folder in DVDit. The bitrate viewer typically showed the spikes were no more than 8400, but in one case it went to 13100. The worst spike typically occured at the end of each clip. Any idea what is causing this? I am running it on a P4 with Windows XP.

the bitrate viewer isnt accurate with mpeg1.. at least not the free version. the sight says the pro is better
load the vid in virtual dub.. pick file-file information and should read 8000 on the nose . tmpgenc isnt very accurate with vbr but the cbr has to be right for compliance
