  1. I'm trying to learn about properly resizing a video file, in this case an AVI. I've read the Resizing AVI guide and have a couple questions:
I've created the .avs file per the guide and opened it in Virtualdub. The original file was 1.4 gig, 640x288 and I set the video compression as an xvid. This appears to create a file a bit bigger than the original. Questions:
1- Is VD the correct program to use for resize? I have other mpeg encoders - avi2dvd, Tmpgenc. Is there one that will encode to Mpeg2 and resize at the same time?
2- Setting Video - compression - XVID - is this correct?
3- Can I run a filter at the same time - ie: MSU Deblock?
    Thanks for the help.

What exactly are you trying to do ?

If the aim is to create a DVD, then Xvid is worthless to you. Virtualdub is great to test avs scripts, and even if you are encoding to Xvid or Divx, however you need mpeg2. So load your AVS into tmpgenc and encode.

If you are resizing avi for DVD, might I strongly suggest you look at FitCD. It will deal with niggling little problems like pixel aspect ratio and produce you a nice little avisynth script.
