    HI,

I'M A FRENCH CANADIAN GUY AND I'LL TRY TO EXPLAIN THE BEST I CAN MY CASE (QUESTION):

-IS A DVD INTEGRATED IN A COMPUTER CAN READ ALL THE DVD REGIONS AND IS IT ALSO POSSIBLE TO WATCH THESE ADEQUATELY IN THE COMPUTER SCREEN ?

I HAVE A MULTI-REGION DVD PLAYER PLUGGED IN MY TV/CABLE GEAR AND I KNOW ALL ABOUT DVD-R OR DVD+R OR PROBLEMS WITH COMPATIBILITY AND OTHER THINGS BUT NOBODY IN MY FRIENDS CAN HELP ME ABOUT MY QUESTION, THEY ONLY TOLD ME THAT IF A DVD IS PAL, WHEN THEY WILL MAKE A COPY THEY ONLY CAN MAKE THE COPY IN THE SAME REGION, NOT PAL TO NTSC ONLY PAL TO PAL OR NTSC TO NTSC.

    THANKS

  2. The DVD drives I have used on my PCs (several models, both internal and external) have all obeyed the region coding of any disc I have tried to play.

It sounds like what you need is something like IFOEdit, which will quickly and easily modify the IFO file in a VIDEO_TS structure such that there are no region restrictions.

You can install software into your pc so that any region dvd can be read !!!

All DVD players / writers have preset region's which can be altered up to 5 times !

    Here ye go !

DVD Region Killer is a Software, that enables you to play DVD titles made for different regions on your PC, without the hassle to switch the region of your Windows operating system and / or the region of your DVD player software back and forth. No longer updated, get DVD Region Free if it doesn't work.

SO, FOR CONCLUSION, NO COMPUTER DVD PLAYERS CAN READ ALL REGIONS IF YOU DON'T MAKE MODIFICATIONS IN SOFTWARE ?

  7. I've not heard of one although there could be "region free" models out there, or perhaps region-free firmware hacks for some models.

Are you sending them commercial DVDs or ones you recorded yourself? Because ones you record yourself typically will not have any region restrictions. And if they are commercial DVDs, can they not get them over there?

    BOBKART,
IT'S ANOTHER THING I FORGOT, THE DVD'S ARE SOME DVD-R OF ROCK CONCERTS RECORDED FROM TV, NOT ANY OFFICIAL DVD'S.

  9. Then they probably do not have any region restrictions anyway.

I'm sure there are application you could use to read the discs on your PC and tell you what, if any, region restrictions they may have. DVDInfoPro for instance, might do it.

pe_35, just to let you know; Using ALL CAPS in a post is considered as 'shouting' on the internet and generally in bad taste. You might want to alternate with the lower case key a litttle more or you might recieve some hostility from our members.

    Thanks, Moderator redwudz

    One thing that seems overlooked:
Region codes is one thing - Different TV systems (PAL/NTSC) another.
Home made DVDs do rarely have any region code protection.
Computers aren't affected by different TV systems - they play PAL and NTSC DVD equally well.
Also, most PAL (standalone) players handle NTSC DVD material fine.

  13. Yes, I was going to mention the PAL-versus-NTSC issue, except that he said they would be using their PC DVD drive as opposed to a standalone DVD Player, so I let it go.
