I was thinking of trying to get something like a msntv to hack and use strictly as a remote access to my desktop in another room to watch videos. I've tried streaming over my wifi G on to my laptop but its really too old - its a p2 and can only run win 98 so better software can't really run on it.
I've seen 2.4ghz wireless video senders that transmit audio and video. I wouldn't mind sacrificing control for effeciency. I could just play the source file be it video or audio only and go watch/listen to it in the other room.
Now my wifi g is on the 2.4 ghz range but the one transmitter I'm looking at on ebay has four channels to choose so I imagine that wouldn't be a problem.
What I'm envisioning this for is to use it to "stream" music and video without a hefty downpayment. I've seen these 2.4ghz senders for $25 plus shipping on ebay and that looks like a good price to me. Does that transmission range offer enough speed to have full motion video without hiccups?? Can it handle any source since I'd be using the tv out from my video card???

Won't the multiple channels help if there's intereference?
Besides I've read people have used wifi g with 2.4ghz phones without problems.
Aren't the 5.8's more expensive?Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I tried the 2.4 Ghz ones, but the only way I didn't get interference was to turn the wireless part of the router off.
Yes, the 5.8 Ghz units cost a good bit more. I paid about $110.
The sound quality was MUCH better from the 5.8 Ghz units too. -
I do have a question though - did you get full motion video with the 2.4's?? Was there any breakup when you did get a clean signal?

Motion was fine with both. You will get some breakup or noise when someone walks between the sender and receiver, so raise them both up high.

BUMP!!!!
I'm getting a new computer and was thinking of a way to send cable from one room to another without running coax.
It is analog cable without a box. Are there any wireless senders that will allow you to change channels completely independently? IE fully interactive as if you had the cable plugged directly in to the other receiving unit???
EDIT - I think what I will end up doing for the time being is simply record on my current pc and then pick up some rewritable discs and transfer them manually to the new computer for editing and burning. I think that would be simplest.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
