    hello,

I have been a big fan of womble mpeg video wizard for a long time for those quick mpeg edits. Usually I do my editing in premiere though because I have dv footage and want some of the more advanced features.

A friend of mine wants me to help him edit some video that was taken off a dvd-cam. Normally I would just chop it up in womble cause we won't have to re-encode, BUT he also wants to overlay some still images during the video which means we'll have to re-encode.

So here's my question..is there a program that will allow the picture overlay feature AND just re-encode during the picture overlay part (do a stream copy for the rest)?

    thanks...

  2. Cuttermaran allows the file to be cut without re-encoding, but it doesn't have any overlay track. You could cut it with cuttermaran, and then take the parts you want overlays into Womble and encode those parts. Then take them all back to Cuttermaran and stitch them together. TMPGEnc MPEG Editor has a "smart renderer", but it also doesn't have an overlay track.

    greymalkin,

Hi. I have used the Womble MPEG Video Wizard. But I think it's only re-encode during the pircture overlay parts, and copy for the rest. Please check that the original video would copy when export.
