  1. Hey guys, I'm fairly new to all this. I have successfully done several conversions using tmpgenc, but wanted to give CCE a shot as I had heard it is quicker, and yields better results. I'm following the walkthrough here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/avitovcdfoolproofusingcce/
I've gotten through the first 7 steps with no problem. Starting step 8 where it says to hiloght the .vdr file in CCE, and double click it. When I dbl click the file, CCE appears to be working, the harddrive runs seemingly non-stop for a couple of minutes, then CCE crashes. Any ideas as to what might be going on here? This is all taking place on an otherwise stable system by the way.

  2. hmm.. did you setup the frameserving dlls (run the auxsomething.exe program in the virtualdub directory).. unfortunately virtualdub will act like its frameserving even without the dlls setup but its not.

try to serve to tmpgenc . if you can do that ok then you can isolate it to cce.

  3. What operating system are you running. CCE will not run under xp, which is pretty lame for a $4000 product(who am I kidding, like we pay for it). Also, if anyone out there knows what the vaf file it produces is for let me know. It really slows down encoding time to the mpv, so I am thinking its important, but I'm not sure. Thanks

  4. Is it confirmed that it isn't compatible with XP? I'm using XP, and I could swear i saw something on their site that said it was compatible, plus I did successfully run one conversion the night before last, but it turned out huge, and the way I went about it was nothing like the way that was outlined in the article. I'll check on the dll suggestion. I remember seeing a reference to it, but Seems I had already done that, but it's definately possible that I didn't. Thanks for the input.

  5. I use CCE everyday with XP... no probs at all! you may want to check and make sure that you add proxyon to the registry.

    Peace,

  6. w00kiee .. Like I said, I'm blindly following the tutorial here, so I'm not 100% sure i know what to do to serve to tmpeg. I assume, taking from how the tutorial explains to do it with CCE that all I do is open the .vdr as the video source? If this is correct, I can do so and tmpeg recognizes it fine.

IGuaNAdoN .. Please elaborate on the proxyon. Is this a key that needs to be added to the reg? If so, where? Thanks again guys for your help.

aileronzz, yes, it's a registry key. In the VirtualDub dir there is the 'aviproxy' subdir. Just doubleclick on proxyON before starting the frameserver. Make sure you run proxyOFF after conversion, otherwise you may have problems with VFAPI.

  9. Coll beans. Having issues with my ISP at home. Once I get that straightened out this evening, I'll give this a look. I think I've found a workaround anyway. I played with it some last night, and what I found was that if I choose to use vbr multipass, and set the # of passes to 1, it works fine where using the vbr single pass option would cause it to crash every time. I don't know why this is, but I'll take it. If anyone has any ideas as to why it's acting this way, I'd love to hear em. Thanks again for the input guys.
