  2. VCD is NEITHER...VCD is a video format

    CDR/RW are types of media.

VCD format can burn to CDR/RW media, also some reports success of burning VCDs to DVD-R/RW media.

  4. mostly likely you have downloaded DivX, VCD or SVCD movies,..then look to your LEFT, at the "How To" section, under "Convert"

  6. Ok, I have to step in here.
    I was a nubie once.
In fact on many things I still am.

I have to say read the things on the left, first WHAT IS A VCD. That will help.

Here is your basic steps, just to make it a litte more friendly (i.e. I am not being rude, just realistic).
1 - get video file of random source.
This could be almost anything, divx, avi, asf, mov, mpg, etc.
2 - CONVERT video file to format compatible with your dvd player
This means reading the HOW TO CONVERT. Unless your file is already in vcd format (read what is).
3 - Burn to media with burning software.
You can burn to either CDR, CDRW, or DVDr whatever. Personally I burn to CDRW, and if it comes out ok, I copy the CDRw to a CDR.
4 - watch the movie on your dvd player
You have to make sure your player supports VCD. Read its manual, or read the DVD PLAYERS under other. Or borrow a VCD and pop it in.

Some people here get annoyed when new people start to ask questions which can easily be answered by reading the material on the left. That stuff rocks, and some very diligent people have spent a lot of time putting together.

good luck, and have a nice day.
