I am downloading some videos i'd like to convert to DVD compliant mpg's, anyone have experience and can suggest the best program to do this conversion?

I've never seen ogm file format before, what is the quality likely to be?

    avi2dvd

ogm is a container like avi,mkv,mp4 and it can contain different video and audio codecs, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OGM . So you can not say how the quality is as it depends on both what video codec and then also what resolution, bitrate, etc.

I downloaded avi2dvd as recommended Baldrick, however it doesnt appear to allow me to convert the ogm file to a dvd compliant mpg. That program seems only to allow me to convert ogm straight to dvd. I have 3 other dvd compliant mpgs and I intend to put all 4 onto 1 dvd.

Can anyone recommend a program that will specifically convert from ogm to mpg?

you could convert the dvd vobs to mpg with vob2mpg.

but have you tried any mpeg encoder? should work with some if you have haali media player and the video codecs installed. or use avisynth with directshowsource and frameserve, https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=284288&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

Thanks, I ended up using a program called OGM to AVI then converted the resulting avi to mpg. Convoluted process.. but worked.
