Has anyone else had a problem using batch processing with this version, I have been using this program for over a year with no problems, I set this version up last night to do teo conversions before going to bed and awoke this morning to find both had stopped at 41 meg, (should of been around 800 meg). and when I started my computer this morning I got a message from XP saying the system had recovered from a serious error. I used the previous version of tmpenc and all seemed to be working fine when I left for work, at least it was over 100 meg and going strong. I think I used version 2.5 before and all was fine but I did change the enviroment setting to be able to do divx avi file so I could get it to open it, should I have changed these back before encoding my dvdrip? also don't like the wizard at startup of the newest version, is there a way to turn that off?

I have the same problem, although not all the time. I normally leave my computer on at night batch processing, last night only 2 of the files in my long list were encoded before it crashed. I never have problems with the version before 2.5.

I've no idea what the problem is, but your not the only one.

My son who saw the computer before shutting it down last night said the screen looked like the computer rebooted during the encoding, aparently it did this twice at about the same point. Guess I will use the previous version untill they get the bugs worked out of the batch processing problem.

I couldn't get Vers 2.5 to recognise the AVI from a VDub frameserve. I tried about 4 times and had to reset the PC each time after it locked up. Vers 2.02 works perfectly.

  5. Used the 2.5 twice, both times it failed, system stopped at about 40-45 mb. My system runs under Win2000 Pro. Never had problems with the old verisons. Going back to them.

2.5 is far away better on picture quality than any earlier versions, after many tests I made the last week
There are also many bugs, related with Athlon XP proccessors... Maybe Tsunami don't like AMD, what to say...

The batch encode is really buggy. I hope for a fix soon, 'cause I use it a lot!

There is a tip to eliminate many problems if you have Athlon XP: Go to Option > Enviromental setting > CPU and unmark SSE. Then mark it again. A warning appears, answer "yes". Now, and only now, you have really enable the SSE! You must do this anytime you load tmpgenc! That will make encoding faster, and shall eliminate many crashes!

  8. Well after reading this i am not even going to try 2.5 until the bugs are worked out. But i do want to try turning on the SSE but i dont quite understand how to get to it. You have to turn it on every time? Before or after you start TMGENC?

    THanks

  9. the best version of tmpgenc was 12a... i still use that for everything.. its the most stable and doesnt have the 30 day deal with mpeg2 .. its only taken a dive since.. hope the commercial release(s) are more stable

With version 2.02 you don't have to turn sse off and back on, that is only with 2.5, It was supposed to not have a check there on startup but does even though sse is disabled. And I agree, use 2.02 untill the bugs are worked out, I mean how can you go without batch encoding?
Set up 4 movies and go to bed, easiest way to encode and keeps your wife from complaining...lol
And as far a quality, if there is a difference I can't see it and that is on dvd rips on a big screen TV.

If I did not have an SSE processor I would agree, 12a is very stable but does not take advantage of SSE, I haven't had a problem with 2.02 yet and I can't give up the 40% increase in encoding time using sse.

  12. Ive got an Athlon XP 1800 so i assume i have an SSE processor. Im currently using TMPGE 2.00.29 and have had no problems. Does this version take advantage of the SSE as well? It currently takes about 35 min to covert a 50 min file. How does 2.02 compare?
