    Hi all,

    My [aldi] DVBT card records in mpeg2 format. I am currently searching for a free program that can cut commercials, join and extract elementry streams. I have tried many out there but have only found 1 that actually works and doesn't cause the audio to go out of synch. Videoredo works excellently, unfortunately I'm a tightarse and if there is something free that does the same job I prefer to go that way.
    It's starting to look like I might have to buy it. Any suggestions!!!

    Also after suggestions for free DVD authoring software {if any}

    Thanks from a tightarse.

    Try Cuttermaran for editing and Gui for DVD Author for authoring

    Forgot to mention: Use ProjectX to fix sync. problems before editing

    Is the Aldi card any good ? I had a look last time they had a deal o them, but the reviews of the same card sold elsewhere weren't promising.

    Hi,

    I have found the Aldi card to be OK for what I do. Has its good and bad points. I have never tried anything else though so I have nothing to compare to.
    Can pick up record and timeshift digital, HD and anologue TV, Has Video inputs, scheduled recording, EPG (can't get this to work well, seems like it is running in a different time zone)
    The software is crap though, Hard to use, no documentation, Not well designed, It comes with Mpeg editor and its own DVD authoring but is too hard to learn and seems very slow. Hence the search for something better.
    I use the supplied software just to watch and record the digital TV shows, I am used to it now and it this part works efficiently and well. I have tried some others but am back to using the supplied.
    If I ever buy again I would get something with a quality software package, but this will serve my needs for the time being.
    Hope the info is helpful

    I have had a look at Project x It seems hard (for me) to use
    I am a newbie so I need very basic functions

    Also It appears that cutterman only accepts elementry streams. Don't i need to edit before splitting the streams????

    Is there a dummies guide to these tools?
