Hi. I need help. Im converting avi's which are 23fps using winavi and/or VSO Divx to DVD. I convert at auto framerate and auto aspect. ive tried converting Pal and NTSC but all avi's that are 23fps are constantly jerky and its winding me up. Anyone know whats happening??????

Yes, you're using non standard source material. Probably these oneclick solutions don't work well with odd frame rates.

23.976 fps is jerky and flickery by nature. Your eye wants more refresh. The jerky part is the coveted "film look"
. Flicker can be managed.
NTSC gets around this by telecine 3:2 pulldown to get refresh to 59.94 fps (no flicker).
Progressive NTSC DVD repeats full frames 3-2-3-2 to refresh 59.94 fps.
PAL speeds film up and repeats fields 2:2 for 50 fps refresh. Fancy PAL sets repeat 4:4 for 100 fps
Your local movie theater uses a projector gate to repeat 2x for 48 fps or 3x for 72 fps.
