    Hello

Please excuse what is probably a very basic question. I am somewhat a novice at this interesting pastime. I have transferred video from a digicam to my PC for editing and ultimate transfer to a DVD. That's no problem in itself.

What I am puzzled by is this:
. there is a passage of audio [spoken words] in the original video - let's say it is 64.5 seconds long. Want I want to do is replace that section of audio with another audio track. Let's say the replacement piece of audio is 69.5 seconds long.

I don't want to cut any of out. I want to compress it - probably not the right term to use - or rather squash that 69.5 so it is 64.5 and will fit seamlessly into the video. Or alternatively stretch that piece of video to 69.5 secs. I'm not concerned at the "spaghetti western" look becaus eth elips are out of synch.

I've been using MPEG video Wizard for basic editing and have both DVD Author and Ulead DVD Workshop 2 as well.

Can anyone tell me if any of these programmes can do this, or if not, direct me to any free audio editors that can. I'm sure it's a simple process, but I've never had to investigate the process before.

    Many thanks.

You can try out the freeware audio editor Audacity. It accepts WAV, MP3 and Ogg audio formats. It works similar to a word processor. You can cut and paste between tracks. You may be able to alter the length of your audio, then adjust the pitch so it sounds the same. Probably a lot of different ways to do it. As long as the replacement audio is the same length, then it should all stay in sync.

    And welcome to our forums.

    russellc,

Hi. I have used the MPEG Video Wizard for a long time. and I have a question and suggestion about your operation.

    1. If you compress the audio length from 69.5 sec to 64.5 sec. The audio will be sounded incorrect. Why don't you cut the audio stream to 64.5 sec and keep their quality?

    2. If you want to stretch that piece of video to 69.5 secs. You may add some black clips or maintain some gaps on timeline.
