  2. Mplex has sometimes difficulties with ac3 streams. You can try another multiplexer (imago) and use the resulting muxed mpg (vob) file as input stream.

I am fairly new at timeI have done this previously many times had no problem. what I did
I have use ffmpugei to convert avi to ac3 format. I separately use HC encoder to convert to dvd compliant video. Finally I use DVDAuthorGui to put video, audio plus subtitle together before burning.
If I use another mutiplexer could you explain how I can put the subtitle together in the DVDauthorGUI.

Could you explain to me how to see what the ac3 f problem is with the actual avi file. Also maybe how to fix the ac3 format?
    Thanks

I can't see the whole log, but I am going to take a stab in the dark and say that your bitrate is too high in the m2v. If you post the whole mplex log, we may be able to give you a better answer.

Here is the log. I calculated the bitrate on the videocal so I dont think it should be a problem. It was set on 4323 on a 2:13:54hour.
For the life of me I did not recall how to save a word document to a png or jpg or gif. could someone remind . Here is the file in wps. Sorry. I did a search but did not find anything there was a link but it did not seem to work.

OpenOffice won't read a .wps file. A simple txt file would be acceptable, if you don't mind.

Ok, I was able to open it on my work pc. After looking over the log, my guess is that the bitrate is spiking. You may be safe to select 'ignore errors' under file, and then author. You might also try selecting the alternate muxing engine, under tools. Borax's suggestion would also work, and then add the subtitles with DVDAuthorGUI.

Tried multiplexer ac3 audio with new multiplexer imago so it was converted to vos. But dont understand how to uses DVDAuthorGUI with the vos file as my audio, add subtitle. Under add title I add the video file with m2v with no problem but when I add audio I cannot add the vos new file they ask for audio stream in ac3, mp2 and mpa. I am lost as to what to do with Borax suggestion. Could you please explain. Thanks

  9. I don't know the exact procedure for liquid's DVDAuthorGUI...
AFAIK you need to select the second output format option in imago: 'VOB (DVD Video Object)'
This will give you 1 (big) vob file. Use this as video input (change the file type to vob, no m2v/ac3 specification needed, as it is already muxed!). Then select the subtitle(s), design the menu and go.

Just as borax said, use imago to create one large vob. Import that vob in the GUI by clicking 'add title' and under 'files of type' select mpeg/vob. Once the vob is imported, add your subtitles accordingly.

The alternate muxer is a bit buggy, and so is the interface to it via the gui, so just continue to use mplex as you can. Of course, in this case, try using the imago mpeg muxer
