    I've been trying to configure the Xvid encoder correctly for an optimal configuration, targeting both size and quality. I've just encoded a video 16:9 (slide slow) at 1007 kbps (calculator says Target Size: 665600 and Average Birate: 1003), 2 pass, resolution 640x360 + VD full proc. mode + Filter resize Lanczos3.
    As I watch the final result on the PC, I notice a thin green bar at the bottom of the frame. Since I was using FFdshow (libavcodec) for decoding, as soon as I disabled it and enabled the own Xvid decoder, the bar disappeared (other config. options do not show the bar using FFdshow; includding 1 pass but at a higher bitrate: at Quantizer2 or Quantizer3). What's happening ?

    Here are my questions:
    1) I'd like to know how to capture a frame to paste in PS in order to upload here;
    2) Is there any way to configure FFdshow to cover up this green bar? Will this video show correctly on most Divx/Xvid players?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. You can save a screen shot of a playing video with Media Player Classic.

    2. You're best off using the native XviD decoder. Your video should likely play fine on your standalone player.

    Could be related to the fact that 360 is not mod16. What version of XviD/ffdshow?

    Xvid version is XviD-1.1.0; 30/12/2005; FFdshow is older Oct 12 2004

    The video is not centered either...

  6. The older ffdshow MPEG4 decoder may not be happy with a frame height that's not a multiple of 4.

    I didn't compare the installation when I upgraded but it appears to be similar in size and functionality.
