Hello everyone,
I have searched thoroughly but haven’t found any other related topic, so I hope that this has not been discussed before.
I have a Sharp 802 mobile phone with this cool recording ability for video in the following formats :
• 3gp
• Asf
When I record a video I can choose for its size if I want it to be sent as an mms to someone at which case the format is goint to be 3gp, or whether it is a long duration video at which case I choose between QCIF or SubQCIF (one category) and Qvga (MPEG4) (second category).
By downloading the correct codec from the internet the above files (asf) can be played through windows media player.
So far so good.
Now , the problem occurred when I discovered the program called Total Video Converter. It is a very cool program that converts all known video types. Well, anyway, I am planning to go camping and I figured that for times of complete boredom I could put some of my movies or favorite series episodes to my mobile phone for late night viewing. So, I converted some of them to 3gp format (from avi, rm, flv, vob and others) and through my SD card I viewed them. Once again so far so good, but as you can plainly see, 3gp format is kind of small and not so quite good for viewing.
So I tried to turn them to asf format and then is when my problems started. I cannot make it to play no way. My QVGA (MPEG4) is only saved in the SD card folder SD VIDEO. To be exact, the videos turn in ASF format, and are viewable through the Total Video Converter while they are inside the pc. But when I move them to the card, wherever I put them, (in whatever folder) they cannot be played.
Also, when I have started recording for a QCIF or SubQCIF format I have the ability to choose an encoder between H.263 (for Europe) or MPEG4(for Japan) as well as choosing the size (QCIF or Sub).
But you see, when I record something having made the choice that it is going to be for a long duration video and that it will be QVGA, when I play it back with my cell phone, it covers (the video) the entire screen of the mobile phone. But when I choose to record it in one of the other formats, when I play it to view it (in my mobile phone) the image occupies only the center of the screen. I hope I have explained everything to you so you might understand my problem.
The folders where the videos can be copy->pasted in my card are ‘videos’, ‘SD VIDEO’ , ‘VODAPHONE ->PRIVATE->MY ITEMS->VIDEOS’.
Also when I have recorded a long duration video in the QVGA format, my mobile phone states that it can only be saved in my ‘SD VIDEO’ Folder.
Any help will be much appreciated and indeed needed. Thank you all very much and have a great summer.
Michalis from sunny Greece.
P.S. I include an image of the Total Video Converter interface so as to see the choices i have of codecs (formats).

Well I actually found out what to do. I’d like to thank the people that took their time to view the post.
It was a problem of codecs.
If anyone wishes I could explain what I did.
Once again thank you all
