  1. I have some DV AVIs (NTSC - 720 x 480) I'd like to convert to Flash Video Format.

    I notice when converting the videos with the Flash 8 Video Encoder - I can resize the videos, but they come out to 320 x 213 (I'd like the video to be the standard 320 x 240 size).

    So I have two options that I know of, either uncheck the Maintain aspect ratio option and just resize it to 320 x 240

    or

    Choose the crop and trim function, crop off 40 pixels each side (to 640 x 480) and then resize the video to 320 x 240 (thus maintaining the aspect ratio).

    Any tips on which way I should go or another workaround for this?

    Is 320 x 213 a standard video resolution???

    Thanks!

  3. That's actually the way I've been doing it.

    I have a question if you care to answer - when I export my video project (NTSC 720 x 480) from Premiere Pro to something like Windows Media (320 x 240 size) - is this what "automatically" takes place?

    Probably.

    This is what may be going on behind the scenes (at least "should" be going on):

    1.De-Interlace (one of many ways) --as needed (which it usually is when going to web-ready WMV)
    2. Crop 720x480 -->704x480 (removing overscan)
    3. Resize (Precise Bilinear or Precise Bicubic or Lanczos) 704x480 --> 640x480 or 320x240 (Maintain AR, convert non-square pixels to square pixels)
    4. Colorspace conversions, as needed (RGB or 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 or 4:1:1 to 4:2:0--usually)
