I've been using Ulead DVD Workshop 2 to do authoring because it's easy and fast and I can create a menu from start to finish all within that one program.. Just wondering if any other programs have been released lately that allow me to accomplish the same task? DVDWS2's text editing capabilities could be better in my opinion.. Someone told me to check out TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 but I'm not sure if it has the capability? Anything else out there? Don't say DVD lab, that program is just plain cryptic to me =)

For your requirements, you are probably using the best program already. TDA is probably easier, but not as powerful. Encore is more complex, and doesn't allow for all DVD compliant resolutions to be used. I use DVD Lab Pro, but I understand that it isn't for everyone. I use very few of it's built-in effects and menu features, and do most of my work in photoshop first.

What specifically is wrong/missing/lacking in DVDWS2 that has you looking elsewhere ?

Better text editing capability.. I'd also perhaps try to use photoshop to create the menus but I'm not sure how to make DVDWS2 import those files.. There's another program by the same people that make DVD Lab called Menu Studio specifically designed for creating DVD menus but I can't figure out how to make it work with DVDWS2 either.
