    hi

    is there any way to tell what the max speed of your cpu fan is while its installed?

    You can try and use Speedfan.... It shows alot of info on the Temp and Fan speeds...

    i already have software thet monitor temps for my mobo , cpu. i'm looking for something that can tell me what my max cpu fan speed is , not what its currently at.

    If it's a aftermarket fan/cooler, go to their website.

    Generally, they don't have extreme ranges. If it's running at 2KRPM, then it probably maxes out at 3K. If it's running at 4KRPM, then maybe 5KRPM. You can also look at the label on the fan, it may tell you the speed range. Or if there is a part number and manufacturers name, check the fan manufacturers site.

    If it's controlled by the motherboard, you can disable the software control and it should run at max. If it's internally controlled, do some heavy encoding and see what it goes up to. Run your CPU at 100% for a half hour, that should max it out. Most encoding is at 100% CPU. (As measured by Task Manager in XP.)

    its intel fan that came with cpu. thats a great idea about encoding so thats the way i'll go as i'm getting tired of taking my pc apart all the time
