Using DVDShrink to backup kids movies. Nero to burn. When I click on backup, it does show my plextor dvdr on the target device, but does not show anything in the dropdown box as in the instructions downloaded from the dvd guides site. They show the headings "Burn with Nero", "Create ISO image file", and "Create DVD Files". Despite this, the encoding takes place, and after the encoding finishes, instead of a burn the dvd dialog box I get an error box. It reads...

Sorry for all the stuff, but can anyone point me in the right direction here? Even the files created by the DVD Shrink program when loaded into Nero say they are too big for the disk and cannot be compressed.

  2. Try just creating the files and then open nero separately and burn after shrinking. If shrink did not shrink enough, then shrink again or reauthor.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.

    MDJones1,

The error message "Cannot connect TRF" is coming from Nero, and appears to be unique to the DvdShrink - Nero pairing. There are lots of different answers to the problem. As a matter of fact Google has 51,100 hits for the error message.

From reading a sampling of the solutions offered, it sounds like you could be in for a difficult time, with a lot of trial and error, if you want to correct it.

An easy way out might be to try a different approach. Since the error message is coming from Nero, take it out of the equation. Instead of letting DvdShrink use Nero to burn, use the "Create ISO Image" option in DvdShrink, and then use the freeware program ImgBurn to do the actual burning (using the ISO that DvdShrink created). If that works, you're done. If there's a problem, post back with the new details.
